Malabo at Venus Bay (Bahía de Venus)
Satellite view is showing Malabo, the national capital of Equatorial Guinea, located on the northern coast of Bioko Island (formerly Fernando Pó) on the rim of a sunken volcano.
Malabo is the oldest city in Equatorial Guinea. The city was founded in 1827 by the British as Port Clarence. In the beginning the port was used as a naval base, aimed to prevent the slave trade. Many liberated slaves settled in the city.
Today Malabo is the commercial and financial center of the country. The city has a population of about 100,000 inhabitants. Spoken languages are Spanish (official), some French, Portuguese and local Niger–Congo languages, and pidgin.

Oyala (also known as Djibloho) is a planned city that is being built to be the future capital of Equatorial Guinea, replacing Malabo.
