10 Countries with the Fastest Internet Connections in the World – Nowadays, accessing the Internet is no longer a luxury. The internet has become a necessity in human life, especially for those of us who live in urban areas. You can read this website thanks to the Internet, we can send emails, chat with friends, update status on Facebook, play online games, search for information via Google, pay bills at ATMs and transfer money with mobile banking thanks to the Internet.
The Internet as we know it today stands for Interconnection-networking and was originally a project developed by the United States Department of Defense for Military purposes under the project name ARPANET (Advanced Research Project Agency Network). If defined, what is meant by the Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks using the standard Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to connect billions of users around the world.
Internet Connection Speed is measured by bits per second (bits per second). The development of Internet speed started from a few bits/second (bps) in the late 1950s to several kilobits/second (kbps) in the 1990s until and is now reaching the Megabit/second (Mbps) connection speed. To compare the difference in the speed of bit/second to Megabit/second, we can see a simple table below:

Based on a report published by Akamai, the country with the fastest Internet connection speed in the second quarter of 2014 was South Korea with an average speed of 24.6 Mbps. Hong Kong China ranks second with an average Internet connection speed of 15.7 Mbps. Meanwhile, Indonesia only ranks 101st with an average Internet speed of 2.5Mpbs.
