Country Profile Thailand – Thailand is a Constitutional Monarchy country located in Southeast Asia. With the constitutional monarchy system of government, the head of state of Thailand is a king and the head of government is a prime minister. The total area of Thailand is 513,120 km2 with a population of 68,615,858 people (2018). The majority of Thailand's population is ethnic Thai and Buddhist.
Astronomically, Thailand is located between 5°-21° N and 97°-106° E. The country whose local name is called Mueang Thai is geographically bordered by Laos and Cambodia in the east, while in the west it is bordered by Myanmar and the Andaman Sea. To the south, Thailand is bordered by Malaysia and the Gulf of Siam. Previously, Thailand was also known as the State of Siam.
In foreign relations, Thailand is one of the founding countries of ASEAN along with Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. The city of Bangkok which is the capital of Thailand is the city where the ASEAN geo-political and economic organization was founded. Apart from being a member of ASEAN, Thailand is also a member of the United Nations and institutions under the United Nations as well as a member of APEC and Interpol. Thailand is also known as the only country in Southeast Asia that was never colonized by European countries.

In the economic field, Thailand has a gross domestic income or GDP of USD. 1.235 trillion with a per capita income of USD. 17,900,- in 2017. Thailand's infrastructure is developing very well with pro-investment policies so that many companies invest in the land of the white elephant. Two-thirds of Thailand's GDP comes from exporting commodities abroad. Products exported by Thailand include automotive products, electronic products, agricultural commodities and food processing products. Thailand's economic growth was 3.9% in 2017.
